In NUMEN, light functions as a structural element. Part of the Lúmina series, the work dispenses with figuration and is built through relationships of color, material, and luminosity.

The composition is organized through chromatic planes and gradations of light that generate depth and guide the viewer’s gaze. Light seems to expand from within the painting, creating a visual architecture.

This approach connects with the tradition of illusionistic Baroque, particularly the frescoes of Andrea Pozzo, such as The Apotheosis of Saint Ignatius in Sant’Ignazio, Rome, where light and perspective dissolve spatial boundaries. In NUMEN, this heritage is translated into a contemporary language without resorting to figuration.

The title refers to numen as an invisible presence that animates matter. This concept is expressed through enveloping, modulated light, which establishes the internal rhythm of the work.

NUMEN is part of the artist’s ongoing investigation into light as a pictorial and spatial principle.
