Biography
Rosana Larraz (Zaragoza, Spain) is a painter based in Málaga. Her work moves between lyrical abstraction and expressionism, exploring light, atmosphere, and memory. For Larraz, painting is a physical and material practice in which intuition and planning coexist. She works primarily with acrylics and mixed media, often painting directly with her hands within carefully structured compositions.
Her path towards painting has developed through a combination of Art History, studio training, spatial design, intercultural communication, and experiences across different cultural environments. She holds a degree in Art History and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics. Her training in window display and spatial design developed her understanding of technical drawing, perspective, colour, composition, and visual communication. Alongside this, she pursued years of figurative painting training in different workshops, particularly under the guidance of Spanish painter Antonio Cantero Tapia.
Her years in Basel (Switzerland) marked a turning point and led her to devote herself fully to painting. Her travels and experiences in Japan, Bolivia, Italy, and Greece broadened her perspective and deepened her engagement with different ways of perceiving space, nature, light, and human experience.
In 2023, she established her studio in Málaga, where she lives and works. Her work has been exhibited in Spain and internationally and is held in private collections in several countries. Her recognitions include the TARTGET Fusion Prize 2025, selections for several editions of the Salón de Arte Abstracto de Madrid, and finalist status in the Toolip Art Contest in Vienna.
